OPIS This book provides the research results on jökulhlaup process-form relationships within sub-, en-, supra- and proglacial environments in Iceland, preliminary results of investigations regarding the morphological and sedimentological evidence of outburst floods and landscape evolution at the Weichselian decline in NE Poland as well. All described field sites in NE Poland provide information regarding selected features of the Megaflood Landform System, whereas some of them refer to the morphology and origin of glacial curvilineations (Łopuchowo site), geology of selected areas the Western Suwałki Lakeland (Hańcza and Cisowa Góra sites), the morphology and geological features of subglacial valley (Prudziszki site), and proglacial megaflood-related landforms and sediments (Biała Woda, Ateny and Bryzgiel sites). We hope that this monograph will provide a great opportunity to discuss research methods and compare the results of research into Pleistocene glacial outburst floods with similar events elsewhere in the world. We believe that the presented results of geomorphological, sedimentological and geophysical research will help all participants to better understand the factors controlling these extreme processes and to recognise their sources.
